Going Mainstream = Dumbing Down?

Sigh. I just saw a CNN's segment on what is now the phenomenon of "The Secret" DVD. It's a typical news story -- giving a summary of what it is, pro and con opinions, and so on. In 3 minutes.

Well, I was going to write a very long rant about how the story is misleading and dumbed down and gives half-truths about the concept the DVD attempts to communicate (and to be truthful, I do agree that the DVD does a bit too slick of a job at it, making it seem like "new age informertial" as one of my friends puts it).

Uhh, let me reiterate, the report's representation of the concept is misleading, dumbed-down and half-truth. The reporter didn't get it. It is a prime example of how when even the most profound concept can quickly turn into a cilche, a fad, just a shallow trend that comes and goess.

The fact that the concept is now widely exposed is not bad, at all. More people will get it. But a report like that really cheapens what I think is a deep and profound revelation.

OK, so this is me spewing this poison out of my system with this post. I'm going to put it out of my mind now. What I hold dear to my heart, nobody can deny it.
